Project and Outcome
The 50th Anniversary Conference celebrated a 'New Era' in the bilateral relationship post the signing of the Japan Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) in July, 2014. It also explored how Australia and Japanese businesses can make the most of the opportunities arising from our 'special' relationship - bilaterally and collaboratively in third countries - as well as significant issues that are likely to impact the coming years.
The 50th Anniversary Conference was held on the 7th-9th October, 2012 in Sydney and had the Hon Julia Gillard MP as guest speaker at the dinner reception. The conference attracted 180 Japanese participants and 140 Australian delegates together with 41 accompanying Persons.
Monica Shanahan worked with Paul Gallagher, former Executive Director of the AJBCC and was responsible for the design and production of the 50th AJBCC Anniversary Souvenir Publication, 1960 - 2012, in collaboration with the 50th Anniversary Conference.
